Things to do in Kavos

Kavos, on the island of Corfu, is renowned for its lively nightlife and clubbing scene. It’s a true party town – but there are also plenty of alternative things to do nearby. 

Whether you’ve got a summer job abroad in Kavos or are just partying it up for a couple of weeks, you’ll have the chance to discover some of the local attractions. 

First thing first – Kavos is a fairly compact town that’s easy to explore on foot. However, many of the best things to do nearby require a bus ride or boat trip. Fares are cheap and the services are reliable, so it’s easy to get around. 

If you’ve ever been on a group holiday, you’ll know that catering to everyone’s different interests and personalities can be a bit of a challenge. So, we’ve created this list of things to do in Kavos for every type of person in the hope that you can keep each member of the group happy!

For the adrenaline junkie

Adrenaline junkies will be spoilt for choice in Kavos, where there’s an array of watersports and adrenaline-fuelled activities to choose from. 

Quad Biking in Kavos

Quad biking

What is it? A recreational activity where you explore the local area on four-wheeled off-road quad bikes.

Where is it? Quad bike rentals are available at multiple locations in Kavos. Walk down the strip and you should spot them soon enough!

Why go? More powerful than a bicycle, safer than a motorbike and more fun than a car – quad bikes have it all! Aside from being thrilling to drive, they’re also a great way to get around Kavos quickly. 

Parasailing in Kavos

What is it? An exhilarating watersport that has you gliding through the air while harnessed to a parachute and being towed by a speedboat. 

Where is it? Head down to Kavos beach to find multiple providers offering parasailing and other exciting watersports.

Why go? Feel the adrenaline surge as you fly high above turquoise waters and take in the stunning Greek coastline. 

For the culture vulture

While Kavos is a party town more focused on socialising than cultural activities, there are still some hidden gems to enjoy. 

Monastery of the Blessed Virgin Mary

What is it? The ruins of an old monastery built in the 18th century on top of a cliff.

Where is it? The monastery is located at the most southern point of the island of Corfu. It’s a 45-minute walk from the end of the Kavos strip, with the final stretch taking you along a scenic hiking trail.

Why go? Aside from marvelling at the ruins, you’ll also find yourself passing one of the best viewpoints in Kavos. Enjoy the breathtaking view out over the ocean and the peaceful vibes of this off-the-beaten-track setting.

Achilleion Palace Corfu

What is it? A magnificent palace built in the 19th century to serve as Empress Elisabeth of Austria’s summer retreat.

Where is it? South of Corfu Town, so a bus ride there is necessary. There are buses leaving Kavos for Corfu Town every hour or so and the journey takes just over an hour, so it’s easily doable as a day trip. 

Why go? It’s a chance to soak up some history, take a walk around stunning gardens and get your pop culture fix – the palace was used as a filming location for the James Bond film ‘For Your Eyes Only’!

For the party animal

If we’re being honest, everything about Kavos is designed for party animals! But here are a couple of the highlights…

Booze cruise 

What is it? A daytime boat party where you’ll play games, dive off deck into the ocean and tour some local beaches. Oh, and the entire thing will be fuelled by booze!

Where is it? There are several tour operators offering booze cruises around Kavos. You can find them online or speak to a rep when you arrive at the resort.

Why go? Kavos booze cruises are renowned for their raucous atmosphere and cheeky party games. Plus, it makes a nice change from drinking in bars all the time!

Future Club Kavos

What is it? One of Kavos’ longest-running clubs that hosts some of the biggest events of the year.

Where is it? In the heart of Kavos, located on the main strip. 

Why go? Future Club is one of the most popular in Kavos and has a reputation for its incredible party atmosphere, as well as performances from big-name DJs.

For the nature lover

Once you get away from the buzz of the main strip, the area around Kavos is incredibly serene and full of natural beauty.

Scuba Diving in Kavos

What is it? A chance to explore Kavos’ vibrant marine life, underwater caves and coral reefs.

Where is it? Multiple places in Kavos offer rent scuba diving equipment rental or scuba diving experiences with a qualified instructor. 

Why go? You can discover an underwater world of marine species unlike anything you’d find back home.

Arkoudillas viewpoint 

What is it? A viewpoint at the top of a cliff, accessible via a short hike.

Where is it? Southwest of Kavos, about an hour’s walk from the strip.

Why go? The lush landscapes offer some respite from the energetic centre of Kavos, and the panoramic views are out of this world.

Kavos Blue Lagoon

What is it? A stunningly beautiful blue lagoon with crystal clear waters and an impressive mountainous backdrop.

Where is it? On one of the small islands near Syvota, about half an hour’s boat ride from Kavos.

Why go? Fill up your camera reel with shots of sparkling turquoise water. Boat tickets there often include stops at other top tourist sites, so there will be multiple photo-taking opportunities.

Kavos jetty

What is it? A picturesque fishing pier extending into the Ionian Sea. 

Where is it? You can find the jetty on the main beach in Kavos. It’s most easily accessed from the side road that the Quayside Village hotel is located on.

Why go? The jetty offers a quintessential Instagram backdrop, perfect for posing up a storm at sunset and creating other Instagram-worthy moments.

Can I do everything?

There’s plenty to explore in and around Kavos. But if you want to leave time for partying and sunbathing too, a week-long holiday isn’t going to be enough time to fit it all in.
